Elementary Acting Class (2nd - 5th grades):
In the Elementary Acting course, students grow in poise, self-confidence and stage presence as they are trained in basic aspects of theatrical movement, vocal control and character development. Materials used include performance pieces from biblical sketches, fairy tales, children's poetry and prose. While learning the academics of drama, students engage in high-energy games, improvisation and rehearsals as they practice skills and prepare for a spring recital. No experience is necessary.
Intermediate Acting Class (6th - 12th grades) :
Students in the Intermediate Acting course will explore the dramatic acts on a more challenging level as they study and use theatrical terminology, work on keys to projecting, create interesting characters, and prepare work for performance. No experience is necessary as topics covered in Elementary Acting are revisited at a depth more appropriate for this age. Materials used come from biblical sketches, literary sources and some film scripts. Each class will include games and activities designed to encourage creativity, focus and character development. Utilizing improvisation, rehearsals and skill development, students will perform in a spring recital. In addition to acting, students will also study and use directing, script analysis and blocking skills.
As student demand increases, more classes will be offered in improvisation, storytelling, stage movement and adult acting.
